This article is focusing on the solution to this latest issue about social media: internet hoaxes that have such a big effect that parents are panic and should get an advice to know how they can handle with this problem. At the beginning It starts talking about an example of the internet hoax called "Momo challenge" then talks about how these internet hoaxes use fear of parents to make them panic, including some school systems, local media and even police. And talks about what parents can do so as to help their children get an idea that not everything on the internet is real at the end of the article. I think it depends on whether those news can affect our country or life or not and to what extent it is important. If it is not be like that, I think we just take it for granted and should turn to focus on local news that may have effect on us more than national or world news. However, If it is the biggest issue having impact throughout our world, we still have to read and realize what it is going on in case we may be able to help deal with any issues.
Headline: L.A. will become the biggest city in the U.S. to ban fur
Source: https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-los-angeles-fur-ban-20190212-story.html Los Angeles will ban the sales of animal fur under a new law by the City Council. This will go into effect in 2021 and makes it illegal to sell, manufacture or trade furs or fur clothing and accessories. This ban results from morality and considering animals should be treated humanely. Moreover, L.A. is also the best place to make this action since it is a big city which has the opportunity to make a clear statement or encourage the rest of the world to follow. However, some people disagree with this action, especially fur sellers and manufacturers because doing so may affect on their jobs as well as economy. This new story is important because of many factors. The first one is Proximity: this banning fur is going to happen near our community (Los Angeles, California). The next one is Consequence: a new ordinance of banning fur can have effect on people in L.A., especially people who work relating to animal fur. Perhaps this can help other states in the U.S. realize how cruelty animals have to experience with and eventually these states become to ban stuffs made of any parts of animal like L.A. The last factor which makes this news important is Human Interest. It seems to attract a group of people who are interested in fashion or fascinated in clothing or accessories which made of animal fur while it also make animal rights activists pay attention to this new story because they may want to know what is going on and what is going to happen.
